When you think of your future what do you see?
What about TooMorrow?
What about today?
Throughout my life I have met a vast amount of people who knew what they wanted to do for a career for as long as they can remember. The catch… none of them share my background, or even one close to being similar to the way I was brought up. Not saying they were given the “silver spoon,” but they themselves never felt what its like to be a young child and know that the environment you are growing up in has caused tremendous amounts of pain, suffering, and oppression to many people before you.
With that being said, no one ever is stuck in their current situation. In America at least. How do you get out though? Many people fall victim to things that they were exposed to without choice. Funny I brought up choice because the book I am currently reading talks about the paradox of choice. Why having more options is not necessarily a good thing. On the contrary, having no choices does make things difficult. No one can change the fact they were born into a lower-class family, or that their parents were on section 8, or that they lived in a high crime neighborhood as a young child. What you can change is if you spend all of the days of your life in the same situation, or not by trying to enhance your life experiences for the better.
